"Preventing a Repeat of the Kumho Tire Factory Fire"
Gwangsan District in Gwangju announced on the 10th that it has launched an emergency special safety inspection of large-scale workplaces to prevent accidents similar to the recent fire at Kumho Tire's Gwangju factory.
The inspections target 14 facilities classified as Type 1 and Type 2 under the Special Act on the Safety and Maintenance of Facilities. The inspection period runs until the 20th.

Gwangsan District has formed an inspection team consisting of five members, including the Safety Management Advisory Group, the Citizen Safety Division, and the Employment Policy Division. The team will focus on inspecting fire response facilities such as electrical installations?including wiring and circuit breakers?firefighting equipment, and evacuation facilities. They will also check for cracks in building structures and foundation subsidence.
If any risk factors are found, the district will immediately notify the facility managers and request urgent action. Gwangsan District also plans to continuously monitor whether improvements are made.
