The Gwangju Work-Family Balance Support Center has published a comprehensive guidebook for working parents titled the '2025 Gwangju Working Mom and Dad Guide,' which covers labor laws and maternity and paternity protection systems.

This booklet systematically organizes the rights and systems that working moms and dads need to know throughout different life stages such as pregnancy, childbirth, and childcare. It has been published annually since 2017, making this the ninth edition.

In particular, this year's edition clearly explains Gwangju's unique policies, including support for maintaining employment for pregnant working moms, the 'Mam-Pyeonhan' package for pregnant women, and incentives for parents of elementary school students to start work at 10 a.m., making the information easy for everyone to understand.

Additionally, it provides detailed information on the latest updates to maternity and paternity protection systems implemented this year, such as support for infertility treatment leave pay, expanded paternity leave for spouses, extended parental leave periods, and an increase in the eligible child age for reduced working hours during childcare.

The '2025 Working Mom and Dad Guide' is available on the Gwangju Work-Family Balance Support Center website (in the resources section), and can also be obtained at five district offices, obstetrics and gynecology clinics, children's hospitals, daycare centers, and small and medium-sized businesses. Citizens who wish to receive a personal copy can contact the Working Mom Support Center.

On May 29, Yoon Geonyeol, head of the Gwangju Work-Family Balance Support Center, stated, "We have produced the guidebook to help working moms and dads understand and utilize their rights by reflecting the latest changes made this year," and added, "We will continue to expand work-family balance policies that citizens can truly feel."
