Yoon Sukyeol Attends Film Screening at Invitation of Jeon Hangil
Criticism Emerges Within People Power Party
On May 21, Cho Kyungtae, a lawmaker from the People Power Party, criticized former President Yoon Sukyeol for making his first public appearance since his removal from office by attending a documentary film that claims election fraud. Cho stated, "Is he volunteering to be Lee Jaemyung's number one campaigner for the Democratic Party?" On his social media account, Cho wrote, "Who is this move for? It is truly absurd and pathetic that he can be so shameless, showing no remorse even though an early presidential election is being held because of him."

He then shared a news article about Yoon's first public appearance since his removal and added, "I hope he exercises restraint." In addition to Cho, former People Power Party leader Han Donghoon also posted on social media, stating, "The People Power Party must not join hands with Yoon Again (Yoon Sukyeol Again), Jatongdang (Jayu Tongildang), Ugongdang (Uri Gonghwadang), or election fraud conspiracy theorists," adding, "That is the shortcut to the party's self-destruction."
Concerns were also raised in the People Power Party lawmakers' group chat about former President Yoon Sukyeol publicly attending a film centered on election fraud. According to SBS, a senior lawmaker from the Yeongnam region wrote in the group chat, "There is a media report that former President Yoon Sukyeol will publicly watch an election fraud film this morning," and added, "I believe this will have a negative impact on the election. I earnestly ask those lawmakers who can to dissuade him." It was reported that some lawmakers expressed agreement with this message. Another lawmaker from the Yeongnam region, who holds a key position in the Kim Moonsoo camp, also posted, "It would be better if he exercised more restraint." On the other hand, regarding Yoon's schedule, Shin Dongwook, chief spokesperson for the People Power Party, dismissed the concerns by saying, "Former President Yoon is already a private citizen who has left our party," and, "We have no comment on his schedule."

Earlier, former President Yoon Sukyeol visited a movie theater to watch the 'election fraud documentary.' This was his first public appearance since he was impeached and removed from office by the Constitutional Court last month. At around 9:40 a.m. on the same day, Yoon arrived at a movie theater in Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul. Wearing a suit without a tie, he walked silently to the screening room accompanied by two bodyguards. Supporters waiting in the theater lobby chanted his name. Former President Yoon watched the documentary film "Fraudulent Election, A Work of God?" together with Jeon Hangil, a former Korean history lecturer who led protests against the impeachment. It is known that Yoon attended the screening at the invitation of Jeon.
