During the visit, Minister Yoo reviewed the information security status of the three major telecommunications companies (SK Telecom, KT, LG Uplus) as well as major platform companies (Naver, Kakao, Coupang, Woowa Brothers).
This on-site inspection was organized to discuss ways to strengthen corporate security capabilities, recognizing the SKT incident as a serious breach. During the inspection, Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) from major companies shared the current status of their information security efforts.
Minister Yoo Sangim stated, "Taking this incident as an opportunity, we will comprehensively review the entire information security system, including the designation of critical information and communications infrastructure, investment in information security, information security certification systems, supply chain security, and incident response, and will address any shortcomings."
Minister Yoo further emphasized, "Digital technology is now deeply embedded in the daily lives of our citizens. I urge companies that provide these services to take greater responsibility by increasing their investment in information security so that the public can use digital services safely, and to respond thoroughly to various cyber threats."
