Honam University Department of Animation Selected for 'Content Korea Lab' Support Program

Production Support Fund of 40 Million Won for Four Student Teams from Honam University

Honam University announced on May 2 that four teams of students from the Department of Cartoon Animation have been selected for the Junior Creator category of the '2025 Gwangju Content Korea Lab Content Creation and Production Support Project,' receiving a total of 40 million won in production support funds.

This Junior Creator project is a program designed to discover and nurture young content creators in the region. In 2025, a total of 19 teams applied, and after a rigorous process including document screening and presentation evaluations, 10 teams were finally selected. The Department of Cartoon Animation at Honam University demonstrated outstanding competitiveness by having all four of its applicant teams selected.

The four selected teams will each receive 10 million won in support to produce various types of content. Among them, two teams will create webtoons, one team will work on animation, and one team will plan and produce immersive media content. This achievement is seen as a reflection of the department's practice-oriented curriculum, as well as the students' exceptional creativity and production capabilities.

Kim Seoyoung, head of the Department of Cartoon Animation, stated, "The significance of this project selection lies in the fact that our students' production capabilities have been recognized externally. Through this opportunity, students have gained a valuable chance to fully express their creativity," adding, "The department will continue to provide unwavering support so that students can realize their potential through diverse experiences and challenges."
