At the 'Media Round Table' held on the 3rd at Lotte Hotel Seoul, the companies showcased their ongoing projects and cooperation plans they seek to pursue in South Korea to the media and related parties.
The visit of Estonian companies to Korea was organized by the Embassy of Estonia in Korea, the Estonia Business Hub, and the Estonian Business Agency. The Chairperson of the Environment Committee of the Estonian Parliament also accompanied the delegation, drawing attention by highlighting the excellence of Estonia's eco-friendly energy industry. Since the Estonian energy delegation first visited Korea last year, six 'cleantech' companies returned this year to demonstrate their enthusiasm for targeting the Korean market.
Joko Allender, Chairperson of the Environment Committee of the Estonian Parliament, who led the delegation, said, "Estonia is leading innovation in renewable energy, hydrogen, and smart grid sectors to realize a sustainable future centered on clean technology. Through this, we hope to achieve the shared goal of carbon neutrality together with Korea."
Sten Schwede, Estonian Ambassador to Korea, stated, "Estonia is leading the eco-friendly technology industry by combining digital innovation and sustainability, and through cooperation with Korea, we aim to create a more sustainable future together. This visit is an important opportunity that we hope will lead to tangible joint achievements and further expand economic exchanges between the two countries."
This visit included many innovative companies leading the construction of next-generation large-scale renewable energy infrastructure. The six companies are 'Builderish,' which supports more efficient solar power adoption using digital solutions; 'Eesti Energia,' one of the largest energy companies in Northern Europe operating an annual power production of 4.9 TWh and a 64,000 km power grid; and 'Fermi Energia,' which develops small modular reactor (SMR) technology to supply stable, carbon-free power, among others.
Eva Kristina Ponomaryova, Trade Representative of the Estonian Business Agency, said, "It is very meaningful to visit Korea together with innovative companies leading the construction of Estonia’s next-generation renewable energy infrastructure at a time that marks a turning point toward practical cooperation between the two countries. We plan to continuously expand the cooperation momentum between the two countries with global innovators, including at the Smart Industry Summit to be held in Estonia in May."
