Establishment of Education Innovation Policy Office for Online Education
Chonnam National University (President Lee Geunbae) announced on the 24th that it has carried out an organizational restructuring to establish a system capable of actively responding to the rapidly changing educational environment and the growing demands in research and administration.
President Lee Geunbae decided on the restructuring through an administrative order on his first day in office, which was last month on the 26th. After going through administrative procedures such as partial amendments to the regulations on organizational establishment, the new restructuring plan was implemented starting on the 20th of this month.
The Admissions Headquarters was reorganized into the Office of Admissions to innovate the student recruitment system and lay the foundation for expanding students' autonomy in choosing their majors. For this, the positions of Dean and Vice Dean of Admissions were newly established to pursue more specialized admissions policies.
In addition, the former Planning and Coordination Office was reorganized into the Planning Office, and to strengthen the university's financial management strategies, the Financial Strategy Office and the position of Vice Dean of Finance were newly created. Through this, the university aims to enhance the efficiency of financial operations and focus on establishing sustainable development strategies.
To establish future-oriented policies and strengthen data-driven administration, the Future Strategy Policy Office was expanded and reorganized into the Future Strategy Headquarters. Accordingly, the positions of Director and Deputy Director of the Future Strategy Headquarters were newly created to systematically establish and implement the university's long-term vision and strategies.
To allow for more specialized execution of academic and student support functions as well as planning, research, and external cooperation functions, the existing Academic Affairs Headquarters was divided into the Academic Support Headquarters and the Planning and Research Headquarters. The Academic Support Headquarters will be responsible for academic operations and student support, while the Planning and Research Headquarters will enhance planning, research, and external cooperation functions to increase the professionalism and efficiency of university operations.
To systematically manage online education and extracurricular education, the Education Innovation Policy Office was newly established within the Education Innovation Headquarters, and the position of Deputy Director of Education Innovation was newly assigned. This aims to strengthen the university's ability to respond to non-face-to-face educational environments and to lead educational innovation.
Additionally, to more systematically manage AI education and information-related courses, the position of Deputy Director of Informatization was newly established within the Informatization Headquarters, thereby strengthening the digital education environment.
To further vitalize research and industry-academic cooperation functions at the Yeosu Campus, the Industry-Academic Research Support Office (Yeosu), which was previously under the Research Office, was reorganized into the Industry-Academic Cooperation Headquarters. The positions of Director and Deputy Director of the Industry-Academic Cooperation Headquarters were newly established to expand the role of industry-academic cooperation.
The former Global External Cooperation Office was reorganized into the External Cooperation Office to more clearly define the university's external cooperation functions and to restructure the organization to strengthen domestic and international cooperation networks.
Lee Geunbae, President of Chonnam National University, stated, "This organizational restructuring will be a significant turning point in responding to changes in the future educational environment and establishing a system for the university's sustainable development," adding, "We will continue to change and develop to promote student-centered educational innovation and strengthen research competitiveness."
Through this restructuring, Chonnam National University plans to more proactively respond to changes in the future educational and research environment and to continuously improve so that students, faculty, and researchers can focus on academics and research in the optimal environment.
