The Humanities and Social Sciences Research Institute at Honam University (Director: Yoon Young) recently announced that it held the first workshop of the third year as part of the Humanities and Social Sciences Research Institute Support Project by the National Research Foundation of Korea.
At this workshop, all joint and full-time researchers attended together with Chief Researcher Professor Yoon Young. The workshop featured in-depth presentations and discussions under the theme of "Interim Report on Third-Year Project Achievements and Establishment of Future Plans."
In the first session, full-time researchers Kang Younghun, Ko Hyeonbeom, and Moon Eunhee presented the research institute’s achievements during the first half of the third year. The institute has hosted various academic events such as publication of papers on practical literacy, roundtable discussions, colloquia, academic conferences, teaching method seminars, graduate student academic seminars, citizen lectures, and extracurricular programs to explore the direction of general education research and projects for cultivating practical literacy. The researchers also took time to coordinate the remaining schedules for these academic events and review key keywords.
In the second session, the direction for the latter half of the third year was set. There were in-depth discussions on ways to conclude the six-year project and on the future path for the institute’s development. Specific agenda items included the publication of a comprehensive series summarizing the achievements of the second phase of the project and the planning of academic events that encompass new keywords.
Professor Yoon Young stated, "Through this workshop, we were able to summarize the achievements so far and reset our future direction," adding, "We will continue to work together with all institute members to ensure the remaining period is also meaningful."
