Local Public Institutions to Hire More New Employees... 3.0% Increase Compared to Previous Year

"Contributing to the Expansion of Local Employment"

About 1,000 local public institutions will increase regular employee recruitment by 3.0% compared to last year.


The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced on the 24th that local public institutions plan to newly hire 7,673 people this year, an increase of 225 from last year's recruitment plan. Last year, local public institutions contributed to regional employment expansion by hiring 11,394 people, which was 53% more than the original recruitment plan.

Considering the difficult economic conditions, 164 local public enterprises will hire 3,940 people, an increase of 5.9% (218 people) from last year, and 843 local investment and grant institutions will hire 3,733 people, an increase of 0.2% (7 people) from last year.


By job category, 6,200 are general positions and 1,473 are public service positions. General positions increased by 441 during the same period, while the number of public service positions decreased by 216.


The major institutions with increased recruitment compared to last year are ▲Seoul Transportation Corporation 630 people (increase of 286) ▲Gyeonggi-do Medical Center 379 people (increase of 170) ▲Seoul Facilities Corporation 344 people (increase of 211) ▲Busan Transportation Corporation 199 people (increase of 72) ▲Seogwipo Medical Center 76 people (increase of 51), among others.


Local public enterprises also plan to hire 1,509 youth experiential interns, an increase of 192 (14.6%) from last year's recruitment plan.


Detailed recruitment plans, including the timing and number of hires by local public institutions, will be announced on the 'Integrated Disclosure of Local Public Institution Management Information (Clean Eye)' and on each institution's website recruitment information.


Han Soon-gi, Director of the Local Finance and Economy Office at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, stated, "Since quality local jobs are an essential factor driving the regional economy, we will continuously monitor and manage recruitment performance to ensure that many good jobs are created in local public institutions, which are a key pillar of regional employment."
