Women protesting against the Russia-Ukraine war in front of the United Nations building in Switzerland were detained by the police. They caused a disturbance by removing their tops and damaging sculptures in front of the building, criticizing the UN for failing to prevent the conflict.

On the 13th (local time), according to foreign media including The Economic Times, three feminist activists damaged sculptures while protesting the Russia-Ukraine war in front of the United Nations building in Geneva, Switzerland. They are known to belong to the group 'FEMEN,' famous for provocative protests.

The women exposed their upper bodies and damaged several parts of the sculpture known as the 'Broken Chair' using a chainsaw. This artwork symbolizes the human casualties caused by landmines and calls for the ban of destructive weapons used in the Ukraine war. FEMEN stated in a press release, "The UN was created to guarantee peace, but since it failed to stop the aggressors, this 'Broken Chair,' which reminds us of human suffering caused by landmines, only adds to the tragedy," explaining their reason for the damage.

Two of the women wore blue and yellow bands on their legs symbolizing the Ukrainian flag, with phrases such as "stop mines" and "Fxxx Russia" written on their chests and backs. Throughout the protest, they shouted profanity directed at the UN and Russia. They were later arrested by the police who arrived on the scene.

Meanwhile, the war that began with Russia's invasion of Ukraine marked 1,000 days last month. On the 19th of last month, the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement saying, "Ukraine will never surrender to the occupying forces, and the Russian military will be punished for violating international law." It also pointed out that demands are increasing for Ukraine to sit at the negotiating table with Russia to end the war, emphasizing that peace through strength, not appeasement, is necessary. On the same day, Dmitry Peskov, spokesperson for the Kremlin, stressed, "The military operation against Ukraine is ongoing and will be completed." Russia refers to its invasion of Ukraine as a special military operation.
