A heated debate erupted online over a post made by the mother of Taeha, a "social media (SNS) baby star" with about 1.73 million subscribers.
On the 3rd, Taeha's mother, who runs the YouTube channel ‘Taeyomine,’ addressed the community, saying, “Thank you sincerely for your interest and abundant love for Taeyomine. Today, I have something I must ask of you all.” Taeyomine is a YouTube channel that shares the daily life of Taeha, a boy born in 2021, and has gained great popularity. The channel has 800,000 YouTube subscribers and 930,000 Instagram followers.
Taeha’s mother appealed, “Lately, many people have greeted us warmly or asked for photos when they unexpectedly meet Taeha. Please refrain as much as possible from suddenly touching Taeha, shouting, or directly asking him for photos.” She continued, “Recently, there have been frequent occasions where strangers suddenly approach Taeha in unfamiliar places and talk to him, which makes him feel embarrassed. Because of this, I am worried that the attention and love you send might feel frightening to Taeha, so I am cautiously making this request.” She added, “We always welcome greetings with eyes or hand waves from a distance,” and reiterated, “You can say anything to Taeha’s mom or dad, but please keep your warm feelings for Taeha from afar.”
“Limit Children’s Media Exposure” vs “Stop Rude Behavior”

This notice sparked a debate online. Some netizens expressed opinions such as “If you are worried about the child, limit the child’s media exposure.” They commented, “The biggest problem is exposing a young child who knows nothing to the media,” “Do they want to make money off the child but tell people not to act like they know anything?” “If the child is starting to feel confused, it’s right to stop YouTube and Instagram,” “Isn’t this natural for such a famous baby?” and “Even child actors say their memories were painful; if you’re a parent, you should stop.”
On the other hand, many expressed understanding of Taeha’s mother’s position. They said, “Does knowing the face mean we have to endure rude behavior?” “What is wrong with people who insult Taeha’s mother?” “The ones who care about Taeha the most are his parents,” “Whether posted on SNS or not, touching him is the problem,” “Respect the child’s privacy,” and “She wrote the post gently, but there are many sensitive people.”
Meanwhile, the YouTube channel ‘Jinjeong Couple,’ which similarly shared their child’s daily life and gained popularity, announced last December that they would stop posting videos on YouTube. At that time, they had 880,000 subscribers and said they decided to stop YouTube “for the child.” The couple explained, “As we did YouTube, Ruda became more famous, and even when we went to the playground, all the attention was on Ruda,” adding, “We were grateful for the attention but worried it might negatively affect the child’s personality development.” They continued, “Right now, we stay close to Ruda, but later there will be times when the child goes to and from school alone, and if our activity range is exposed, dangerous situations could arise,” and said, “We were very worried about that.”
