According to the city council on the 7th, council members held the "Incheon City Shingles Vaccination National Budget Support Urging Rally" after the conclusion of the 1st plenary session of the 299th regular meeting on the 5th.
They urged, "The government should support health and medical policies so that all citizens above a certain age can benefit," and "immediately consider national budget support for shingles vaccination for Incheon citizens."

Earlier, the Incheon City Council approved the original draft of the "Partial Amendment to the Ordinance on Support for Shingles Vaccination in Incheon City" at the 298th extraordinary session. The ordinance includes expanding the target for shingles vaccination support from recipients under Article 2, Clause 2 of the National Basic Living Security Act aged 65 and older within the region to all citizens aged 65 and older.
Accordingly, if support is provided to all Incheon citizens aged 65 and older, there are concerns about medium- to long-term financial burdens. Therefore, the Incheon City Council explained that support measures are needed to reduce the economic burden on Incheon citizens and to promote public health.
Lee Seon-ok, council member representing the resolution (Guk, Namdong-gu 2), emphasized, "In a situation where medical expenses are increasing and causing significant economic difficulties, government budget support is essential to expand the target for shingles vaccination support beyond vulnerable groups."
