The restroom at Jeju International Airport, operated by Korea Airports Corporation, received the Silver Award at the 26th Beautiful Restroom Contest, along with a commendation from the Minister of the Interior and Safety and a prize of 1 million KRW.
The selected restroom is located on the 3rd floor of Jeju International Airport, primarily used by departing passengers. To allow travelers to continue enjoying the travel atmosphere even in the restroom, a large display was installed outside, showcasing the beautiful scenery of Jeju Island.
Inside, a bright and eco-friendly design reflecting the unique characteristics of Jeju Island was applied. To provide passengers with a comfortable space and improved convenience, occupancy status monitors, sensor-activated lights, powder rooms, diaper changing stations, and individual air conditioning systems were installed.
Additionally, considering the difficulty in identifying hazardous situations (such as falls or fainting) inside the restroom, an AIoT-based smart integrated solution and two-way emergency bells were installed to create a safe restroom environment, and the restroom obtained the Toilet Culture Quality Certification (TCQ8000).
Jeju Airport, operated by Korea Airports Corporation, plans to sequentially improve restrooms within the airport to foster a culture of beautiful restrooms.
Kim Bok-geun, Director of Jeju Airport, stated, “We will do our best to operate the restrooms as clean and comfortable resting spaces so that all users of public restrooms can use them with satisfaction.”
