According to a report by JoongAng Ilbo on the 5th, the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul booked Moon on charges of violating the Road Traffic Act (drunk driving). Around 3 a.m. that day, Moon was driving a Casper vehicle under the influence in front of the Hamilton Hotel in Itaewon, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, and collided with a taxi that was following her while changing lanes. The taxi driver, who was the victim, reportedly suffered minor injuries such as neck stiffness.

Police breathalyzer results showed Moon’s blood alcohol concentration at 0.14%, which corresponds to license cancellation (0.08% or higher). She is scheduled to appear at the Yongsan Police Station on the morning of the 7th for police questioning. The legal limit for drunk driving is a blood alcohol concentration of 0.03% or higher. If the blood alcohol concentration is 0.08% or higher, it is considered driving in a state of intoxication and results in license cancellation. Additionally, the license is canceled if a person drives under the influence two or more times.

Meanwhile, Moon is expected to be summoned by prosecutors regarding allegations of preferential hiring at the low-cost airline Thai Star Jet involving her ex-husband Seo Mo and support for her family’s relocation to Thailand. Prosecutors began investigating after determining that Seo was given preferential treatment when he was hired as an executive director at the airline established by former lawmaker Lee Sang-jik, who was appointed chairman of the Small and Medium Business Corporation in 2018.

The Supreme Prosecutors’ Office Digital Forensic Center conducted forensic work on Moon’s seized items, including her mobile phone, on the 2nd under a schedule coordinated with prosecutors and Moon’s legal representatives. Earlier, on August 30, searches were conducted at Moon’s residence in Jongno-gu, Seoul, her office in Seodaemun-gu, and her villa in Jeju. Prosecutors plan to summon Moon as a witness for questioning once the forensic work is completed.
