The meeting was organized as a place to seek solutions to water quality management issues of agricultural water through local governance and to share and divide roles among participants to activate local governance, manage the water quality of agricultural reservoirs managed by the corporation, and establish a foundation for supplying clean agricultural water.

Eleven stakeholders, including the corporation, local governments, agricultural-related organizations, journalists, and environmental NGOs, participated to share the division of roles by each entity and to report on the main pollution sources of water quality and environmental conditions in the Yeongam area, as well as the status of water quality improvement project zones.

Additionally, the meeting included discussions on water quality management measures tailored to local characteristics through facility site visits, active promotion of water pollution environment awareness, and the necessity of joint measures to operate resident-participatory governance with local governments and environmental NGOs.

Lim Moon-hee, head of the Yeongam Branch of the Korea Rural Community Corporation, emphasized the importance of agricultural water quality management and the active participation of each stakeholder in the water quality and environmental preservation association, stating, “We will continue to devote all efforts to maximizing the effects of water quality improvement and preservation.”
