Police Detain Teenage Female Guest
At around 8:06 a.m. on the 2nd, a fire caused by arson broke out in a second-floor room of a seven-story motel in Hyoje-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul.
According to the fire authorities, 34 people were rescued, including six guests in their 20s who were taken to the hospital after inhaling smoke. Eight people evacuated on their own.

The fire department deployed 161 personnel and 38 vehicles and completely extinguished the fire at around 9:21 a.m., 1 hour and 15 minutes after the fire started.
The fire caused damage estimated at 95 million won as part of the motel was scorched and household items were burned.
The Seoul Hyehwa Police Station has booked and is investigating a teenage female guest, identified as A, on suspicion of arson. It is understood that A set the fire inside the room at around 8 a.m.
The police are investigating the specific motive for the crime and plan to conduct a joint inspection on the morning of the 3rd.
