Gwanak-gu Achieves 2.24815 Billion KRW in Warm Winter Fundraising
Surpassing the 1.8 Billion KRW Goal, Raising 2.24815 Billion KRW to Reach Love Temperature of 125℃
Warm Donation Movement Continues with Corporations, Community Groups, Religious Organizations, Individual Donors, and Children’s Contributions...
Despite the unusually cold winter marked by high inflation and high interest rates, Gwanak-gu remains warm thanks to the love of its neighbors.
Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) has surpassed its fundraising goal of 1.8 billion KRW in the '2024 Hope Ondol Warm Winter Campaign,' achieving a total of 2.24815 billion KRW.
The '2024 Hope Ondol Warm Winter Campaign,' conducted in partnership with the Seoul Social Welfare Community Chest, ran for three months from November 15 last year to February 14 this year.
The district's fundraising campaign kicked off vigorously with the 'Love Temperature Tower and Donation Box Installation Ceremony' on November 15 last year. The Love Temperature Tower rises by 1℃ for every 18 million KRW, which is 1% of the target amount, raised.
To encourage voluntary participation and interest from local residents, the district appointed heads of professional organizations, community leaders, and others as ambassadors, with all employees joining forces to raise private funds so that neighbors in need could have a warm winter.
Despite the absence of major donors and corporations compared to other local governments, many companies such as Tandy Co., Seogwang Industry, Yeong-eun Electric Co., Sein Together Co., and KT Service Northern Branch, along with various resident groups, religious organizations, industry associations, individual donors, and even the piggy banks of young children, continuously extended diverse and warm support, raising the Love Temperature of Gwanak-gu.
The donation efforts of Gwanak-gu employees also continued. Over the past year, employees contributed a total of 94.61 million KRW by setting aside a portion of their monthly salaries, joining in sharing warm hearts.
As a result, the Love Temperature of Gwanak-gu in 2024 reached 125 degrees (℃).
With the funds raised through this campaign, 1.1584 billion KRW worth of goods (rice, ramen, winter supplies, etc.) will be immediately provided to vulnerable groups, and 1.08975 billion KRW in cash donations will be used to support low-income families, households in crisis within welfare blind spots, and social welfare facilities.
In April, the district plans to express gratitude to donors who have continuously shown warm love through awards and letters of appreciation.
Mayor Park Jun-hee said, “Thanks to the many people who have continuously extended their warm hands, our neighbors in need were able to spend a warm winter. We will continue to do our best so that the precious hearts gathered with one mind and one purpose will be used meaningfully to become a ‘Warm Welfare Community Gwanak through Sharing.’”
