On the 14th, a post titled "Ridiculous Free Giveaway on Danggeun Market" was uploaded to an online community and became a hot topic. The author, Mr. A, who recently gave away a Lush Jelly Gummy Bear and Twilight 100g product for free on the secondhand trading platform "Danggeun," shared a ridiculous story and revealed the conversation with Mr. B, who received the giveaway. These products are bear-shaped shower gels released by the UK-based cosmetics brand Lush, and because their form is similar to jelly, they are also called "shower jelly." The Gummy Bear product is currently discontinued.
In the photos disclosed by Mr. A, Mr. B, who received the giveaway, requests a refund saying, "My stomach feels bad and I keep vomiting," and pleads, "Please check my message. I beg you." When Mr. A, bewildered, asks, "How can I refund something given away for free?" Mr. B complains of pain, saying, "I ate it while taking it (the free giveaway), but as soon as I ate it, I kept having phlegm, my throat hurts, and my eyes hurt." When Mr. A, astonished, asks, "Did you really eat it?" Mr. B replies as if it’s obvious, "Yes, it’s jelly, so I ate it."
Mr. A laments, "If he really thought it was jelly, he wouldn’t have asked for a refund but just said he was sick," and adds, "Mr. B must have known it was originally shower gel. Since he is a recent trader, I can’t even block him and it’s distressing." All Lush products have their original purpose written in English and Korean under the product name at the top, such as "shower jelly," "shower gel," or "shampoo." It appears that Mr. B intentionally ate the shower gel and is demanding a settlement.
Netizens who came across this story responded with comments like, "They say even drinking bleach if it’s free is a modern-day practice," "If he smelled it, he wouldn’t have eaten it, amazing," "Now we have to write all precautions even when giving things away," "They just flipped out because it was free without knowing what it was," and "Wanting a refund for a free giveaway means they want compensation," among others.
