LG Uplus Launches 'Jigeum Delivery' Service for Budget Phone SIM Cards with 2-Hour Delivery

Online One-Chip Purchase Delivered Within 2 Hours
Part of Strategy to Enhance Budget Phone Customer Experience
Service Prioritized in Seoul Metropolitan Area and Major Metropolitan Cities

LG Uplus announced on the 14th that it has partnered with the delivery platform Barogo to launch the budget phone SIM card delivery service "Jigeumbaesong" (Now Delivery). The strategy is to continuously enhance the budget phone user experience by providing convenience to customers through fast SIM card delivery.

LG Uplus Launches 'Jigeum Delivery' Service for Budget Phone SIM Cards with 2-Hour Delivery LG Uplus has partnered with the delivery service platform 'Barogo' to launch the 'Jigeum Delivery' service, which delivers the U+ Altteul Phone shared SIM 'One Chip' to customers within 2 hours of purchase. Jigeumbaesong is a service that delivers the U+ Budget Phone shared SIM card "One Chip" purchased from budget phone operators' websites within 2 hours, available daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Customers can purchase the SIM card online, receive the One Chip at their desired delivery location within 2 hours, and activate it themselves in 5 minutes using the self-activation service. The service is also available on Saturdays and public holidays.

LG Uplus began selling One Chip online and through nationwide Emart24 convenience stores starting in October 2021. Last year, One Chip sales reached approximately 280,000 units, about three times the 95,000 units sold in 2022. Among One Chip buyers, 80-90% purchased through offline channels.

Regarding the high offline sales ratio, LG Uplus analyzed that many customers prefer to use the service as quickly as possible rather than waiting for courier delivery, leading to the establishment of the immediate delivery service within 2 hours. LG Uplus expects to alleviate customer inconvenience caused by courier delivery delays.

The partnership is also expected to strengthen win-win relationships with small and medium-sized businesses. Considering that about 30 small and medium-sized operators find it difficult to individually contract with distribution companies, LG Uplus expanded sales channels in 2021 by partnering with major platforms such as Emart24 and Baedal Minjok. This time, through the Barogo partnership, the company aims to reduce logistics and labor costs related to courier delivery, including SIM card delivery and customer support.

The budget phone operators providing the Jigeumbaesong service currently number seven, including InscoBee, and are expected to expand to 12 by the end of this month. In the future, LG Uplus plans to expand the service platforms to its official online mall "Uplus.com" and the telecom lifestyle platform "Nugget." Delivery areas will also be expanded from the metropolitan area and major metropolitan cities to nationwide coverage.

To commemorate the service launch, LG Uplus is running an event where all customers who receive a SIM card through Jigeumbaesong and subscribe to the U+ Budget Phone postpaid plan will receive a coffee coupon.

Yu Hoseong, head of LG Uplus's budget phone (MVNO) business, said, “We planned the Jigeumbaesong service to enhance the convenience of activating U+ Budget Phone plans and to build a practical win-win relationship with small and medium-sized businesses. We will continue to improve even minor inconveniences customers may experience when using U+ Budget Phone plans.”
