Targeting Construction Start in 2026... Building 1,423 Households
Jung-gu, Seoul (Mayor Kim Gil-seong) approved the establishment of the association for the Sindang 10 District housing redevelopment project on the 28th. This marks the first redevelopment association establishment in Jung-gu in 20 years and sets a record for forming an association just six months after the designation of the maintenance district.
With this, the Sindang 10 District, filled with low-rise aging houses, has passed the halfway point in its transformation process into a 35-story apartment complex with 1,423 households, scheduled to begin construction in 2026.
The Sindang 10 District is the first maintenance district in Jung-gu to receive public support through the rapid integrated planning and direct association establishment system. This area was selected as the first target site for Seoul's rapid integrated planning housing redevelopment project in August 2021.
Despite having been removed from the maintenance district designation in 2015 and amid skeptical voices regarding rapid integrated planning, the district was designated as a maintenance district last June, fully benefiting from the system.
Moreover, supported by the direct association establishment system, the project period was shortened by more than three years. Sindang 10 District became the first case in Seoul's rapid integrated planning maintenance districts where a housing redevelopment association was established through public support. The required 75% consent rate for establishing the association was achieved in just 36 days.
Jung-gu explained, "We provided unfiltered project information and real-time updates on progress through visiting resident briefings and academies, on-site support centers, expert consultations by field, and operating a band. During the consent period for association establishment, the consent rate was published daily on the band, and innovative promotional methods were implemented to encourage residents' will."
Lee Chang-woo, head of the Sindang 10 District housing redevelopment association, said, "Although the district promised to approve the association establishment within the year, I was half in doubt. I am grateful for the support that allowed us to achieve good results, and I will do my best to repay the support."
Kim Gil-seong, Mayor of Jung-gu, stated, "Jung-gu will be reborn as a new city centered around Sindang 10 District. As this is a project site attracting attention in Seoul, let us communicate and unite to overcome challenges together until the residents move in."
