Now, when using SKT A. Dot artificial intelligence (AI) phone service, you can receive real-time interpretation services even during a call.
On the 14th, SKT announced the launch of the 'A. Dot Interpretation Call' service, which provides real-time interpretation during calls based on AI.
Previously, interpretation was possible by using separate translation applications or tools during video calls, but now real-time interpretation is available over the phone.
When an A. Dot user makes a call, they can press the interpretation call icon at the bottom of the dial to select their desired language from Korean, English, Japanese, or Chinese and receive interpretation services.
Once the call is connected to the recipient, a voice notification saying, "Please wait a moment, from now on the call content will be transmitted to the translator for interpretation," is immediately provided to the recipient. The notification is also given in the selected language.
For domestic users who are not fluent in English, when making a reservation call to a hotel room manager overseas, using the interpretation call that supports English allows the AI to instantly interpret the user's Korean into English. Conversely, if the reservation manager responds in English, it is interpreted back into Korean for the user.
Additionally, foreign residents in Korea who are not proficient in Korean have faced difficulties due to language barriers such as complex terminology or procedures when calling domestic government offices or hospitals. Through the A. Dot Interpretation Call, they can easily obtain desired information or make reservations in a foreign language.
Any SKT A. Dot iPhone user can use the interpretation call service. The call recipient does not need to use an iPhone or be an A. Dot AI phone user; interpretation calls can be used regardless of carrier or OS.
Kim Yong-hoon, head of SKT AI Service Division, stated, "The A. Dot Interpretation Call service, combining communication technology and AI, is expected to solve language barrier issues," and added, "We plan to continue efforts to enhance A. Dot as an AI personal assistant by expanding support for various languages."
