Missed One Question but Achieved National Top Standard Score
Perfect CSAT Scorer Also a 'Sidae Injae' Alumnus Sparks Attention
In the 2024 College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT), the nationwide top scorer in standard scores who surpassed the only perfect scorer was Lee Dong-geon, a graduate of Daegu Gyeongshin High School.

According to the Korea Institute for Curriculum and Evaluation, the Ministry of Education, and Gyeongshin High School on the 8th, Lee scored the highest standard score of 449 points in the 2024 CSAT held on the 16th of last month. The highest standard score indicates how much a test taker's raw score deviates from the average. The more difficult the exam, the higher the highest standard score rises.
Lee missed only one question in Life Science II. However, by choosing Chemistry II and Life Science II, he raised his standard score. The highest score for Chemistry II was 80 points, and for Life Science II, it was 73 points. Chemistry II had the highest standard score among all subjects, and Lee achieved a perfect score in this subject, securing the nationwide top standard score.
The student who achieved perfect raw scores in Korean, Mathematics, and Inquiry areas and received a first grade in the absolute evaluation subjects English and Korean History was Yuria, a graduate of the Hankuk University of Foreign Studies Attached High School in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province (Yongin OFS High School).
Yuria chose Language and Media in Korean, Calculus in Mathematics, and Life Science I and Earth Science I in the Inquiry area, achieving a standard score of 435 points. The highest standard scores for Life Science I and Earth Science I were 69 and 68 points respectively, with a total standard score of 435 points.
Both the CSAT Perfect Scorer and Nationwide Top Standard Scorer Graduated from the Same Preparatory Academy
Meanwhile, it is known that both students attended 'Sidae Injae,' a famous preparatory academy in Gangnam, Seoul.
Sidae Injae is a preparatory academy that has rapidly grown since the late 2010s by developing mock exam questions for top-tier students and distributing them offline. To obtain these mock exam papers, top students from provinces reportedly come to the academy's main branch in Daechi-dong, Seoul, to attend classes.
However, President Yoon Suk-yeol pointed out the need to exclude 'killer questions' from the CSAT and to eliminate the 'cartel' between CSAT question setters and the private education market, making the academy a focus of government investigation.
When asked whether it is possible to fully solve CSAT questions with only public education, Yuria, who achieved a perfect score, said, "If I had achieved a perfect score without private education, I could answer this question, but since I attended a comprehensive cram school for repeaters, it is difficult to answer."
