'Geomi Jip' Kim Ji-woon Wins Best Director at Chunsa Film Festival... 'Olbaemi' Takes 4 Awards

Kim Hye-su and Ryu Jun-yeol Win Best Actor and Actress Awards

Director Kim Ji-woon of the film 'Geomi-jip' received the Best Director Award at this year's Chunsa Film Festival. 'Owl' (directed by Ahn Tae-jin) won four awards.


On the afternoon of the 7th, at the 28th Chunsa Film Festival held at Vista Hall, Construction Hall, Nonhyeon-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, Director Kim humorously expressed his feelings, saying, "I am deeply moved because this award was given by fellow directors. It shows that directors have a keen eye."

He added, "I want to share this honor with Song Kang-ho, who has worked with me on five films." He also stated, "I dedicate this glory to the lead actors who showed an outstanding ensemble, the 39 supporting and minor role actors who passionately performed through intense auditions, and the staff who were the best and greatest to me."


Director Kim also said, "'Geomi-jip' is not only a love letter and tribute to filmmakers and creators who face unbearable realities and overcome them without giving up, but it is also a film made in honor of those who broke through during the difficult times of Korean cinema. I will strive to be a director who diligently follows their great footsteps and journey."


The Best Actor and Actress awards went to Ryu Jun-yeol for 'Owl' and Kim Hye-soo for 'Milsu', respectively. The Best Supporting Actor and Actress awards were given to Kim Jong-soo for 'Milsu' and Jung Soo-jung for 'Geomi-jip'. The New Actor award went to Kim Sung-chul for 'Owl', and the New Actress award to Go Min-si for 'Milsu'.

Director Ahn Tae-jin of 'Owl' received the New Director Award. The film swept four categories including Best Screenplay (Hyun Gyu-ri and Ahn Tae-jin), Best Actor, New Actor, and New Director Awards, achieving a grand slam. 'Milsu' won three awards including Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, and New Actress.


The Chunsa Film Festival is a non-profit competitive film festival held to honor the passion for film and fighting spirit for life of Chunsa Na Un-gyu. The ceremony was hosted by Lee Kyu-han, Song Ji-woo, and Lee Byung-jin.
