Donghaeng Lottery "Recommend Changing to a Strong Password"
The lottery integrated portal, Donghaeng Lottery homepage, has been confirmed to have a possibility of personal information leakage due to an external hacking attack.
On the 6th, Donghaeng Lottery announced that it confirmed the possibility of leakage of some member personal information (name, date of birth, phone number, email, virtual account) on the homepage due to an external hacking attack that occurred the previous day. The hacking was carried out by illegally obtaining IDs and passwords and randomly combining them to perform unauthorized logins.
In response, Donghaeng Lottery stated, "We took preemptive measures by resetting the passwords of member IDs whose passwords were changed due to the external hacking attack," and advised, "We recommend changing your password to one that is difficult for others to predict through the 'Check Password Change Status' feature."
Also, immediately after recognizing the issue, the cause was identified and reported to related organizations such as the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA), and the attacking IP was blocked. To prevent member damage, the homepage was temporarily closed and security measures were completed. The initial hacking start time was reported as 3:56 AM on the 5th, and thereafter, Donghaeng Lottery suspended homepage operations from 2:51 PM on the 5th until 9:35 AM on the 6th.
Donghaeng Lottery expressed, "We deeply apologize for this incident despite our thorough efforts to protect personal information and security," and added, "Members whose personal information was leaked will be individually notified via email or text message. If you have any inquiries or suspect damage, please contact the customer center."
