Hwang Kyo-an: "Arrest Warrants Do Not Determine Truth and Substance"

Facebook Post on Lee Jae-myung's Dismissal Decision
"The Prosecution Is Not an Organization That Gives Up Investigation Just Because of Dismissal"

Hwang Kyo-ahn, former Minister of Justice and former leader of the United Future Party (predecessor of the People Power Party), criticized on social media on the 27th, saying, "The arrest warrant for Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party, was dismissed by the court," and added, "It is contradictory for the court to state that Lee Jae-myung's perjury inducement charges have been substantiated while also saying there is no concern of evidence tampering."

Former leader Hwang added, "Because perjury inducement is a form of evidence tampering."

He also claimed, "The prosecution is not an organization that gives up investigations just because an arrest warrant was dismissed," and said, "They requested the arrest warrant because they judged that a crime was committed."

In particular, former leader Hwang said, "An arrest warrant is merely a means of securing custody; it does not determine the truth or substance," and added, "Now that the entire nation is watching, he is like a rat trapped in a jar."

Former leader Hwang predicted, "Since it was dismissed, the investigation will be pursued even more tenaciously to supplement this, uncovering all of Lee Jae-myung's additional crimes and securing evidence so that he cannot move at all."

He concluded, "In the end, justice will prevail," but pointed out, "However, institutions that should be just must not merely pretend to be just during the process."
