The Asian Regional Council of Architects (ARCASIA) held a board meeting on the 21st in Boracay, Philippines, to select the next host city and chose Incheon, South Korea, as the venue for the 21st Asian Congress of Architects.
At the board meeting held that day, the Korea Institute of Registered Architects delivered a competitive presentation on the suitability, preparation status, and future direction of the prospective host site, and was unanimously selected by all 22 member countries as the host nation for 2025.
Since the second half of last year, the Korea Institute of Registered Architects formed a bidding preparation committee, and in June of this year, signed a business agreement with Incheon Metropolitan City to successfully secure the 21st Asian Congress of Architects. They actively promoted the event by sending letters of support to member countries and highlighting numerous advantages of the prospective host city, Incheon.
The Asian Congress of Architects is the largest festival for architects in Asia, held biennially to promote friendship and technical exchange among the 22 member countries of the Asian Regional Council of Architects.
This congress is an international event attended by architects and university students from the 22 member countries. Over five days, it features international meetings (executive meetings, five executive committees, board meetings), the ARCASIA Architecture Awards ceremony, exhibitions, academic programs, and a university student jamboree. Broad discussions on current architectural issues such as architects' social responsibility and sustainable development will also take place.
Following the successful hosting of the 3rd Congress (Seoul) in 1988 and the 13th Congress (Busan) in 2008, the Korea Institute of Registered Architects has succeeded in securing the event for the third time, enhancing its status as a strong architectural culture nation and providing an opportunity to once again showcase the excellence of domestic architecture.
Seok Jeong-hoon, President of the Korea Institute of Registered Architects, stated, "Securing the 21st Asian Congress of Architects will remain an excellent example of cooperation between local governments and the private sector, and it will be a great opportunity to promote the value of Incheon, a global cultural city where the past and future coexist harmoniously."
