A bizarre scene of two men brawling on Japan's high-speed train Shinkansen was captured. Passengers seated in the train car cheered. Instead of trying to stop the fight, the passengers who witnessed the men's duel were busy taking photos and videos with their mobile phones.
The video was filmed inside a Shinkansen train traveling from Tokyo to Nagoya on the 18th. The two men fighting were professional wrestlers, performing a pre-arranged act rather than an actual fight.
Inside the train, besides the two wrestling men, there was also a referee wearing a black and white striped shirt. The people inside the train were spectators rather than passengers.
They are known to have held pro wrestling matches in unusual locations such as bookstores or campsites, rather than in a ring (arena). This event was hosted by a group called 'DDT Pro Wrestling' based in Tokyo. For this performance, the organizers used a railway company's system that allows renting a train car by the unit.
The public response to this unique performance was enthusiastic. All 75 seats on the train where the wrestling took place sold out in just 30 minutes. However, damage to the train's interior facilities caused by the wrestling was not permitted.
In the video, the two wrestlers fight intensely but only in the narrow aisle between the seats located on the left and right sides of the train. In the narrow aisle about 20 to 30 meters long where the wrestling event took place, passengers appeared to have completely forgotten the boredom of travel time.
