Increase in Tourists When Requested, Gongjin Market Public Parking Lot Completed to Solve Parking Shortage
195 Parking Spaces, Expected to Enhance Convenience for Tourists and Citizens and Revitalize the Market
Pohang City held a completion ceremony for the ‘Gongjin Market Public Parking Lot’ at Cheongha Gongjin Market located in Minam-ri, Cheongha-myeon, Buk-gu, with about 200 officials and citizens in attendance.
Pohang City held the 'Public Parking Lot Completion Ceremony' at Gongjin Market located in Cheongha-myeon, Buk-gu.
Cheongha Gongjin Market currently operates around 90 stores, and has gained popularity as a filming location for dramas such as ‘The Sea Village Cha Cha Cha.’ The number of both domestic and foreign tourists visiting nearby major tourist spots like Wolpo Beach and Igari Beach is steadily increasing.
In response, Pohang City recognized the need to expand and improve parking facilities in Cheongha-myeon and began construction of the parking lot and paving of residential roads in 2019. The parking lot, which can accommodate a total of 195 vehicles, was completed, leading to the holding of this completion ceremony.
With the completion of this public parking lot, it is expected that the parking difficulties faced by tourists and citizens visiting Cheongha-myeon, which continues to attract visitors due to the global K-drama craze, will be resolved. This will also enhance convenience and help revitalize the commercial district.
Deputy Mayor Kim Nam-il stated, “With the completion of this parking lot, accessibility to Gongjin Market, which gained popularity as a drama filming location, and nearby tourist attractions has improved, and the number of tourists is expected to increase further. We will continue to communicate closely with the merchants’ association and take the lead in improving market facilities and the environment for the convenience of tourists and citizens.”
