LH Launches Urban Basic Plan Competition for Uiwang-Gunpo-Ansan Public Housing District

Awarding the Best Team the Basic Planning Service Contract and the Position of Chief Planner

Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) announced on the 13th that it conducted a basic urban concept competition for the Uiwang-Gunpo-Ansan public housing district on the 12th.

The Uiwang-Gunpo-Ansan district is a new town with an area of 5,968,000㎡ (about twice the size of Yeouido), designated as a district on the 30th of last month. Approximately 40,000 housing units are planned to be supplied in this area.

This competition aims to receive innovative basic urban concept ideas and three-dimensional urban space plans for certain areas from private experts, to create a city where work, residence, and leisure coexist harmoniously, realizing a 'Work-Live-Amenity' environment.

In particular, considering the geographical characteristics spanning three local governments and excellent transportation conditions such as the planned GTX-C Uiwang Station, the development direction is set as a 'Compact & Network City,' aiming to establish a new hub city in the southwestern metropolitan area.

Eligibility for participation requires companies qualified in urban planning, landscaping, architecture, or information and communication fields as of the announcement date. To find diverse and creative urban development ideas, the winner will be awarded the right to perform the basic planning service for the Uiwang-Gunpo-Ansan district, worth approximately 12.3 billion KRW, and the position of Master Planner.

LH plans to hold an on-site briefing session at the LH Southern Gyeonggi Regional Headquarters on the 18th and accept applications at the Jinju headquarters on the 26th. Submissions will be accepted until October 11th, and the winning entry will be announced at the end of October.

Starting with this competition, LH will initiate the district planning service this year, approve the district plan in 2025, begin construction in 2026, and actively promote the project to supply housing for youth and low-income groups in a timely manner from 2030.

Shin Kyung-chul, Head of LH’s National Land and Urban Development Headquarters, stated, “The Uiwang-Gunpo-Ansan district has excellent accessibility to Seoul and will lead the development of the southwestern metropolitan area.” He added, “LH will do its best to support opportunities for home ownership through transparent and swift project implementation, such as the New:Home program, and to stabilize the housing market.”
