A taxi collided with a pedestrian and four moving vehicles in Gwanak-gu, Seoul. The accident resulted in one death and four injuries.


According to the Gwanak Police Station in Seoul on the 15th, at around 2:20 PM that day, a taxi driven by a male driver in his 70s, Mr. A, struck a man in his 20s who was walking in front of a bridge in Sillim-dong, Gwanak-gu, Seoul, and then collided with four other vehicles.


The pedestrian was transported to the hospital but ultimately passed away. The four drivers who were in the vehicles involved in the collision sustained minor injuries.


At the time of the accident, Mr. A’s vehicle was reportedly speeding down a narrow alley on a side road, hit one pedestrian crossing the crosswalk, and then collided with four moving vehicles before coming to a stop.


It was confirmed that Mr. A was not driving under the influence, and during the police investigation, he claimed that the vehicle experienced sudden unintended acceleration.


The police have seized Mr. A’s vehicle and sent it to the National Forensic Service for inspection. They plan to investigate the exact circumstances of the accident based on Mr. A’s statements and nearby CCTV footage.
