KLPGT Introduces Smart Emergency Medical System Using Drones

Drone Takeoff After Kiosk Installation at Accident Site
Defibrillator Delivered Within 3 Minutes

The Korea Ladies Professional Golf Tour (KLPGT) announced on the 31st that it will introduce a smart emergency medical system using drones starting this year.

The smart emergency medical system is designed to deliver automated external defibrillators (AEDs) by drone in the event of a cardiac arrest during KLPGA regular tour events. It mainly consists of defibrillator delivery drones and kiosks. Kiosks are pre-installed at key locations where it takes more than 10 minutes for carts or ambulances to arrive, allowing drones to take off with just two or three touches on the kiosk when a cardiac arrest occurs.

When delivering defibrillators by drone, the system can reach locations far from the tournament headquarters or crowded with galleries within 3 minutes, securing the golden time. Additionally, to prepare for unexpected situations, professional pilots who have completed the academy course of the drone specialist company 'UFO Astronaut Inc' will always be on standby at the site.

Chunja Kang, CEO of KLPGT, said, "As the use of drones is increasing in the golf industry, KLPGT has become the first golf association to introduce a smart emergency medical system. Through this system, we will maximize the safety of regular tour players participating in the competition and the galleries who love and support KLPGT."
