[Kim Haneul's FunFun Golf] 'Left Foot Uphill Slope Shot'

Ball to the right, hold the club long
Stance slightly wider, target punch shot

Golf courses are not flat. Even if you make an accurate tee shot, the ball can land on a steep slope. You might think, "I didn't make a mistake, so this is unfair." However, trouble situations are also part of golf. If you know the proper strategy, you can achieve better-than-expected results.

[Kim Haneul's FunFun Golf] 'Left Foot Uphill Slope Shot'

Today’s focus is on the left foot uphill shot. It is easier to lift the ball compared to a downhill slope, but the distance becomes shorter. If you do not address properly, there is a risk of hitting the ground behind the ball. When your left foot is higher, the ball naturally hooks. When aiming, slightly aim to the right. First, you need to change the ball position. Move it to the right compared to your usual position. This helps prevent hooking.

On a left foot uphill slope, you should align your shoulders with the slope during address. Maintain your spine angle perpendicular to the ground. This is the power that leads to accurate contact. At this time, the clubface opens, reducing the distance more than expected. Since the trajectory becomes higher, you cannot secure the desired distance. On an uphill slope, choosing a club one size longer is the correct choice. Gripping the club slightly lower allows for a more comfortable swing.

It is not easy to make a full swing on a slope. If you complete both backswing and finish, the hook can become severe. When making a full swing without proper weight transfer, it is even harder to control direction. On a left foot uphill slope, it is better to shorten the backswing and avoid finishing fully. Instead, a concise punch shot is recommended. Think of it as just controlling the direction and execute a punch shot. To prevent the lower body from shaking during the swing, take a wider stance.
