"Fulfilling Social Responsibility Is the Starting Point for Overcoming University Crisis"
The inauguration ceremony of Kim Dong-won (63), the 21st president of Korea University, was held on the 28th at the Inchon Memorial Hall auditorium on the Seoul campus. President Kim will lead Korea University for four years until February 2027.
In his inaugural speech, President Kim said, "The research and education conducted at Korea University must contribute to solving problems not only in the local community but also at the national, societal, and ultimately global levels." He added, "Fulfilling social responsibility is the university's inherent mission and the starting point for overcoming the university crisis."

He continued, "If all members of the university deeply feel the sense of crisis and unite their efforts to move forward, I believe that in the not-too-distant future, Korea University will become a strong and world-renowned institution, creating new glory."
Graduating from Korea University’s Department of Business Administration in 1982, President Kim earned a master's degree in labor relations and a Ph.D. in business administration from the University of Wisconsin in the United States. He was appointed as a professor in the Department of Business Administration at Korea University in 1997 and has served as director of general affairs, director of planning and budgeting, and dean of the Graduate School of Labor Studies.
