[Asia Economy Reporter Kwak Min-jae] Han Young-jae, chairman of Noroo Group, was awarded the 'Gold Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit' at the '48th National Quality Management Convention' in recognition of his contributions to the development of the chemical industry. The Gold Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit is the highest grade of decoration awarded to individuals with outstanding achievements contributing to national industrial development.
The National Quality Management Convention is hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and organized by the Korea Standards Association. The event, held on the 23rd at KINTEX in Ilsan, included an awards ceremony honoring outstanding companies and contributors who have created management performance through quality management innovation activities in the industrial field and contributed to enhancing national industrial competitiveness.
Chairman Han Young-jae took office as chairman of Noroo Holdings in January 2000. He is credited with contributing to the development of national key industries and improving the quality competitiveness of the domestic paint industry through active participation in government policies. Furthermore, he set a goal to develop Noroo Group into a 'global top-tier company,' focusing on solid growth, industry specialization through technological innovation, and strengthening product and technological competitiveness. As a result, the company achieved the highest number of patent registrations in the industry and obtained numerous domestic and international eco-friendly certifications, including the first USDA certification in the U.S. for 'white bio paint' in Korea.
In particular, after announcing the group-level 'ESG management activities' for the first time in the paint industry, the company achieved management performance in non-financial aspects such as environment, society, and governance. According to Noroo Group, both Noroo Holdings and Noroo Paint received an integrated A grade in this year's regular ESG evaluation by the Korea ESG Standards Institute.
Han Young-jae, chairman of Noroo Group, said, “This award is the result of the dedication of executives and employees who have continuously strived for quality innovation on the ground,” and added, “We will continue to practice group-level ESG management in line with government policies and strive to become a 'carbon zero company' that meets global standards.”
