[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Young-won] Kyung Hee Medical Center announced on the 9th that Professor Oh Hyun-joo of the East-West Health Promotion Center (Sasang Constitutional Medicine Department) has been selected for the '2022 Individual Basic Research Project' supported by the National Research Foundation of Korea.

The Individual Basic Research Project is a system led by the Ministry of Science and ICT and supported by the National Research Foundation of Korea, which fosters creative basic research capabilities by providing support according to the researcher's competency level and helps deepen and develop research.

Professor Oh's research topic is "Development of a Remote Collaboration System between Sasang Constitutional Medicine Specialists and Non-Specialists." This project aims to develop a remote system that provides real-time collaboration between Sasang constitutional medicine specialists regarding constitution, a unique diagnostic system and key health management theory in Korean medicine, and to evaluate its applicability in clinical settings. The research period is from June this year to February 2025.

Professor Oh Hyun-joo stated, "Patients visiting Korean medical institutions show great interest in their constitution, and I started this research wondering how to provide consistent and professional constitutional treatment across various Korean medicine hospitals and clinics." She added, "Although this is the first attempt at telemedicine research in the Korean medicine community and will face many challenges, I will do my best to produce valuable results such as establishing a cooperative treatment system among Korean medicine doctors and improving the qualitative differences in constitutional treatment by institution." She continued, "I hope this research will lay the foundation for a Korean medicine remote collaboration system and contribute to the development of patient-centered Korean medical care."
