[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] Goseong-gun, Gyeongnam Province, will issue an additional 1.9 billion KRW worth of Goseong Love Gift Certificates starting in August.
The county stated that it is selling gift certificates worth 24 billion KRW, which is 1.5 billion KRW more than last year, to revitalize the local economy struggling due to various factors such as the resurgence of COVID-19 and the Russia-Ukraine war.
It announced that it will secure a budget in the second half of this year to issue an additional 1.9 billion KRW worth, making a total issuance of 25.9 billion KRW based on individual sales for the year.
The additional issuance in the second half will be sold via mobile to reflect the rapidly increasing demand for mobile Goseong Love Gift Certificates.
From the August issuance, the county plans to adjust the monthly purchase limit per individual for mobile gift certificates from the existing 500,000 KRW to 400,000 KRW.
The number of eligible purchasers will be expanded from the current 1,600 to 3,000 to resolve the early depletion of gift certificates and encourage more people to buy them.
The Goseong Love Gift Certificates are issued in paper, mobile, and card forms at the beginning of each month and are sold on a first-come, first-served basis at local financial institutions or through the gift certificate apps ZeroPay and Jiyuksarang Gift Certificate chak.
A county official said, “There are 2,600 mobile gift certificate affiliated stores registered in the county, which is more than the affiliated stores for paper and card-type gift certificates,” adding, “With a 10% upfront discount purchase and 0% payment fee benefits for small business owners, it is expected to greatly help the local economy.”
