[Asia Economy Reporter Minji Lee] The Jeonbuk Jeonju Deokjin Police Station announced on the 28th that they are investigating a man in his 20s, Mr. A, on charges of spraying a fire extinguisher at a bus driver (assault on a driver under the Act on Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes).

Mr. A is accused of spraying a fire extinguisher at the driver inside a bus passing through Deokjin-dong, Deokjin-gu, Jeonju-si, around 8 a.m. on the 25th, after a dispute over the fare.

According to the police investigation, Mr. A took 400 won from the cash box as change after paying the fare. However, the driver questioned him, saying, "You should only take 300 won; why are you taking an extra 100 won?" which led to an argument.

Later, when the bus stopped at a traffic signal, Mr. A approached the driver with the emergency fire extinguisher on board, sprayed it, and then fled.

A police official stated, "Mr. A later went to the local police station and confessed to the crime," adding, "He has been booked without detention and is under investigation."
