[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gwiyeol] Since February, Gyeongbuk Province has been conducting a design competition for the construction of the Gyeongbuk Training Center and has selected the work "Sosaeng (蘇生)" by Shinhan Comprehensive Architectural Office as the final winning entry.


This competition was held for the establishment of the Gyeongbuk Training Center for training and leisure activities for residents and public officials. A total of 41 teams from across the country registered to participate, and 7 teams submitted proposals.


Following the technical review on the 24th of last month and the main evaluation on the 31st, the final winning work was announced on the 7th of this month.


In addition to the winning work "Sosaeng (蘇生)" by Shinhan Comprehensive Architectural Office, the second prize was awarded to the work by Sangji Engineering Architectural Office, and the third prize to the work by Dain Group Engineering Architectural Office.


According to the results of this competition, the winning entry is granted the priority negotiation right for the basic and detailed design services with a service fee of approximately 2.2 billion KRW.


Also, the second and third prize works will receive compensation of 40 million KRW and 30 million KRW respectively, in accordance with relevant regulations.


The winning work, under the theme "Restoration of Nature: Sosaeng (蘇生)_Revival," envisions a training center that restores the value of nature to fully enjoy the magnificent coastal scenery, sandy beaches, pine forests, and sea breeze, allowing the natural ecosystem and humans to be revived.


The province plans to sign a design service contract with the winner within this month, complete the design by June next year, and start construction from August. The facility is scheduled to be completed in the first half of 2026 in Geomuyuk-ri, Byeonggok-myeon, Yeongdeok, with a site area of 39,104㎡ and a total floor area of 13,184㎡.


A Gyeongbuk Province official said, "Through this design competition, excellent domestic architects participated and a high-quality work was selected. We will continue to strive to establish world-class and historically significant public buildings in the region through design competitions for many public buildings such as the Gyeongbuk Provincial Archives and the Provincial Art Troupe."
