Google Korea Conducts 'Machine Learning Bootcamp' to Train Machine Learning Developers

[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Google Korea announced on the 16th that it will conduct the ‘Machine Learning Bootcamp 2022,’ a program that trains machine learning developers and engineers and connects them to domestic IT company recruitment.

The Google Machine Learning Bootcamp is a machine learning developer training program in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) that provides education and employment opportunities to university students and current developers, and supports domestic companies struggling to hire developers with the necessary machine learning development personnel.

Started first in Korea worldwide in 2020, the machine learning bootcamp has selected 449 participants and produced 251 graduates over two years until last year, with a significant number of graduates currently working as developers at major domestic companies.

This year’s machine learning bootcamp includes a total of 16 AI-specialized domestic companies participating in hiring machine learning developers, including ▲Naver ▲Netmarble ▲Lotte e-commerce ▲Lunit ▲Riiid ▲Moloco ▲Buzzvil ▲VoyagerX ▲Smilegate Entertainment ▲Upstage ▲Kakao ▲Common Computer, as well as newly joined companies this year such as ▲Nexon ▲Bucketplace ▲Socar ▲Emart.

Participants selected for this year’s machine learning bootcamp will receive full support to acquire Google’s TensorFlow certification, Google Cloud Engineer or Professional Machine Learning Engineer certification, including the deep learning specialized course by Professor Andrew Ng, known as the ‘Bible of Deep Learning,’ for three months starting June 22.

They can also gain practical experience by participating in the online AI competition platform Kaggle. In addition, Google Korea plans to provide various benefits necessary for job preparation, such as meetings with current machine learning experts and IT companies, career and resume writing mentoring.

Kwon Soonseon, Google Global Machine Learning Ecosystem Program Lead, said, “As the importance of AI and machine learning-related technologies and the role of developers continue to grow, both developers and companies still face difficulties in employment and recruitment,” adding, “We hope many university students and current developers aspiring to become developers will participate in the Google Machine Learning Bootcamp, which was prepared to contribute to developer training and the advancement of the domestic machine learning field through theory, practice, and employment support.”
