According to the legal community on the 28th, the Criminal Division 7 of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Lee Manheum) summarily indicted Im on charges of drunk driving under the Road Traffic Act with a fine of 2 million won.
A summary indictment is a procedure in which the prosecution requests the court to impose a fine through written examination instead of a formal trial. The court may sentence a fine as requested by the prosecution or refer the case to a formal trial ex officio.
On the 2nd of last month, Im was involved in an accident near Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, where he hit a motorcycle while driving a passenger car. At that time, Im's blood alcohol concentration was at the level warranting license suspension.
Earlier, the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul sent Im to the prosecution on the 11th on charges of drunk driving under the Road Traffic Act.
