Lotte Construction announced on the 19th that it held a groundbreaking ceremony at the project site of 'Ulsan Gangdong Lotte Resort' in Sanha-dong, Buk-gu, Ulsan.
The Ulsan Gangdong Lotte Resort is a project with a total budget of 460 billion KRW, located on approximately 109,000㎡ of land at San 246-10, Sanha-dong, Buk-gu. It will have a total floor area of about 213,900㎡, consisting of 11 buildings ranging from 5 basement floors to 43 above-ground floors. The project includes residential lodging facilities, vacation condominiums, a garden spa-type water park, a convention center, an indoor diving pool, neighborhood living facilities, and a glamping site (campground).
The residential lodging facilities, with about 700 rooms, are designed with a pinwheel motif to allow sea views from every room. A sky lounge and infinity pool are planned on the tallest 43rd floor of the complex, along with a fitness center and golf practice range.
The vacation condominiums, consisting of 278 rooms including a 29th-floor rooftop, will feature high-rise rooms with sea views and premium low-rise rooms with terraces.
The garden spa-type water park, with approximately 6,600㎡ outdoor and 16,000㎡ indoor areas, will be Asia's first and the world's longest natural slope-type play facility called 'Wild River' (about 160m long). It will include indoor garden spas and individual pools usable year-round.
Additionally, a banquet hall with 320 seats, an indoor diving pool of about 3,400㎡ with ocean views suitable for scuba diving, and a glamping site with sunrise views are planned.
The resort is located near Ulsan Airport, and accessibility is expected to improve further with the opening of the Ulsan Outer Ring Expressway, scheduled for 2027.
Upon completion, the resort is expected to generate economic ripple effects including a production inducement effect of 855 billion KRW, a value-added inducement effect of 338.6 billion KRW, and the creation of about 6,700 jobs.
Meanwhile, the Ulsan Gangdong Lotte Resort development project passed the architectural review by the Ulsan Metropolitan City Architectural Committee in December last year. Construction began in the first half of 2022, with completion targeted for the second half of 2025.
