[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] Sono International, a subsidiary of Daemyung Sono Group, announced on the 30th that it will hold a discount event for the Chuncheon Samaksan Lake Cable Car targeting 2022 College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) examinees and customers born in the Year of the Tiger to celebrate the New Year of the Black Tiger.
Through the event running until February 28 next year, CSAT examinees will receive a 30% discount on the fare upon presenting their exam admission ticket, and customers born in the Year of the Tiger will receive the same discount after ID verification. Customers born in the Year of the Tiger are classified as adults if born up to 1998, and as children if born in 2010. Up to three accompanying guests can receive a 20% discount. However, this discount cannot be combined with existing discounts for Chuncheon local residents, seniors, national merit recipients, and others.
During the same period, an early bird discount will also be offered. Customers boarding the first trip of the Samaksan Cable Car between 9:00 AM and 10:00 AM, when operations begin, will receive a 30% discount. Detailed information about this New Year discount event can be found on the official Samaksan Cable Car website.
A Sono International official said, "Since the opening, we have prepared this discount event to commemorate the New Year 2022 with our customers while repaying the support from Chuncheon citizens and people nationwide," adding, "We hope everyone welcomes the new year energetically while enjoying the beautiful scenery unique to the Samaksan Cable Car."
Meanwhile, the Samaksan Cable Car is the longest cable car in Korea, operating over a 3.61 km section with Chuncheon Uiam Lake and Samaksan Mountain as its backdrop. A total of 66 cabins are in operation, including 20 crystal cabins with transparent floors. The round trip takes about 30 minutes. Operating hours are from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (varying between winter and summer). As part of COVID-19 prevention measures, the number of passengers is currently limited to 400 per hour.
