Hyosung Recycled Fiber 'Regen' Expands Reach with Modern Hanbok


[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] Hyosung TNC's recycled PET bottle fiber, regen®, has been transformed into everyday hanbok.


On the 3rd, Hyosung TNC unveiled the hanbok made from regen for the first time at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's 'Visiting Innovation Site Tour' event held at the Jeonju Social Innovation Center in Jeonju, Jeollabuk-do.


On that day, Hyosung TNC exhibited about 10 types of hanbok made from eco-friendly fibers in collaboration with the modern hanbok brand 'LISLE'.


'LISLE' is a fashion startup leading the globalization of hanbok by combining tradition and modernity to create hanbok that can be naturally and stylishly worn in daily life.


Kim Yong-seop, CEO of Hyosung TNC, said, "Applying recycled PET bottle fiber to hanbok is a new attempt that shows PET bottles can be an excellent resource to highlight Korea's unique beauty," adding, "We will continue to respond swiftly to customer demands and market changes with new attempts."


Regen is an eco-friendly polyester fiber brand made by Hyosung TNC by recycling used PET bottles. Through collaboration with local governments, Hyosung TNC has successively launched Regen Jeju, Regen Seoul, and Regen Ocean, growing it into a leading domestic eco-friendly fiber brand.
