Evaluation Conducted on 765 Companies as a Leading Domestic ESG Assessment
S1 Recognized for Various Social Contribution Activities and Transparent Organizational Culture
S-1 (CEO Noh Hee-chan) announced on the 17th that it received an A (Excellent) grade in the ‘2021 Listed Companies ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) Evaluation’ announced by the Korea Corporate Governance Service (KCGS).
KCGS is one of the top three ESG evaluation agencies in Korea and was the first domestic evaluation agency to assign ESG grades to companies in 2003. It is recognized in the industry for its high credibility as the longest-established evaluation agency. This KCGS ESG evaluation was conducted over six months from April to October, targeting 765 companies out of 950 eligible companies, assigning grades across three categories: environment, social responsibility, and governance.
This year, S-1 received an A (Excellent) grade in social responsibility management and governance, and a B (Average) grade in environmental management, achieving an integrated ‘A grade,’ which is one step higher than last year’s B+ (Good) grade.
In the social category, S-1 was recognized with an A grade for its efforts to create a safe workplace by introducing the Occupational Health and Safety Management System (ISO 45001) and strengthening safety education for employees. S-1 also conducts various social contribution activities such as CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) training volunteer work and youth hope scholarship projects.
In the governance category, S-1 established an ESG committee to actively engage in ESG management and introduced an electronic voting system to enhance shareholder convenience, leading transparent organizational culture efforts and receiving an A grade, one step higher than the previous year. In the environmental management field, it received the same B (Average) grade as last year. The introduction of the global standard Environmental Management System (ISO 14001), replacement of facilities within business sites, and preparation of environmental manuals were highly evaluated.
An S-1 official stated, "We will practice green security by recycling security device waste and reducing paper and plastic usage through mobile technology," adding, "As a leading company in the security industry, we will do our best to establish ESG management within the industry."
