[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] Yoon Seok-yeol, the presidential candidate of the People Power Party, stated on the 9th, "I will actively support women's participation in society," adding, "We will provide sufficient institutional support to eliminate gender discrimination throughout the labor market and minimize career interruptions."
On the same day, Yoon attended the 56th National Women's Conference and said, "I found the recent statistics released by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family meaningful. It is very heartbreaking to see the deepening career interruptions among women in their late 30s due to the burden of housework and childcare."
To realize gender equality, Yoon emphasized his commitment to actively supporting women's social advancement. He stated, "If entrusted with the next government, we will firmly support childcare through a national system from birth to infancy and elementary school by establishing an integrated childcare platform," and added, "We will expand parental leave to a total of three years, with each parent receiving one year and six months, and significantly increase childcare services necessary for emergency care."
