[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] Shinsegae, which operates the large-scale complex shopping mall Starfield, has announced the start of construction for 'Starfield Changwon.'
Shinsegae plans to begin construction next year with the goal of opening in 2025.
According to Shinsegae Property, Shinsegae Group's real estate development company, the review of the revised plan was completed through the Traffic Impact Assessment Committee on the 30th of last month.
Since August last year, Shinsegae has completed the business plan by selecting spaces and content suitable for the post-COVID-19 era over about a year.
Starfield Changwon will have a total floor area of 241,079㎡, from 7 basement floors to 5 above-ground floors, which is more than 30 times the size of a soccer field.
The planned construction site is a commercial land in the Jungdong district of Uichang-gu, Changwon-si, Gyeongnam, where a large apartment complex of 6,000 households is located.
Shinsegae expects Starfield Changwon to be located in a metropolitan commercial area connecting surrounding cities, leading trends in nearby regions and dominating the local commercial district.
Lim Young-rok, CEO of Shinsegae Property, said, "We are striving to create a shopping mall that can lead trends in the post-COVID-19 era," adding, "Focusing on Starfield's value as 'Our Family Shopping Theme Park,' we will prepare solidly to take responsibility for shopping, leisure, and healing for customers in Changwon and nearby areas."
