Gwangju Urban Railway Corporation Launches 'Subway Station Design Drawing DB Disclosure' Project
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Gwangju Metro will be realized with a 360° panorama view.
Gwangju Urban Railway Corporation (President Yoon Jinbo) announced on the 4th that it has been selected for the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s Digital New Deal project, ‘Public Data Enterprise Matching Support Project,’ securing 200 million KRW in national funding and starting the ‘Subway Station Design Drawing DB Disclosure’ project.
By deploying 15 young interns and collaborating with two private companies, they plan to film the facilities inside and outside all stations of Urban Railway Line 1 using 360° VR equipment and drones, and build a three-dimensional spatial information system linked to station blueprints.
Through this project, more than 3,000 filmed video materials of Gwangju Urban Railway facilities will be constructed into a database. In particular, a ‘360° Panorama View Service’ will be provided, allowing users to view omnidirectional spatial videos with 360° horizontal and 180° vertical angles at key points inside the station facilities.
The 360° Panorama View Service is a virtual space system that vividly reproduces the actual appearance inside the urban railway stations, enabling users to preview movement directions using arrows, similar to the street view provided by portal map sites.
By utilizing this service, it is possible to check the movement and transfer routes for transportation-vulnerable individuals, various safety and convenience facilities, and the locations of major facilities around the stations, as well as easily find the current location even in complex underground structures.
Additionally, the three-dimensional recognition of station spaces will be possible, which is expected to be used for disaster response activities through indoor space simulation in emergency situations.
The corporation plans to build the data by the end of this year and open it on the Public Data Portal and the Gwangju Urban Railway Corporation website.
President Yoon Jinbo said, “Through this data disclosure, not only will the convenience of citizens using the urban railway greatly improve, but high utilization is also expected in various fields such as architectural design and urban planning,” adding, “We will continue to strive to provide diverse data that citizens need.”
