[Asia Economy Reporters Seunggon Han, Jingun Yoon, Seungmok Han, Kyungdo Lee PD] "We will definitely reestablish the value of fairness that transcends eras and generations, based on liberal democracy and the rule of law."
Former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol officially declared his candidacy for next year's presidential election on the 29th. On that day, Yoon held a press conference at the Maehun Yun Bong-gil Memorial Hall in Seocho-gu to formalize his presidential bid.
Regarding his actions after resigning as Prosecutor General, Yoon emphasized, "After stepping down from public office, I met many people." He continued, "They all consistently worried about the country's future first," raising his voice, "They asked, 'Can the country really be like this?'"
He further stressed, "Yoon Seok-yeol will stand with those people. I will start from the common sense of the great people who built today's Republic of Korea through industrialization and democratization."
In particular, Yoon criticized, mentioning "income-led growth that ignores economic common sense, housing policies that fight against the market, the nuclear phase-out that disregarded the law and caused world-class technology to be wasted, and populist policies close to vote-buying," adding, "The outrageous acts committed by this administration are too numerous to list."
Additionally, Yoon stated, "Democracy without freedom is not true democracy but dictatorship," and pointed out, "What kind of democracy does this administration want? We absolutely cannot leave them as they are."
