[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jin-ho] Commercial banks are rolling out a series of events targeting the '2021 League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) Summer Split,' which opens on the afternoon of the 9th. The LCK Summer is the most prestigious international tournament and the dream stage for professional gamers, with tickets to the World Championship at stake, drawing significant interest from the younger generation. It is interpreted as a strategy to capture future customers by leveraging the high internet and mobile exposure characteristics of e-sports, targeting the 10-30 age group.

According to the financial sector, KB Kookmin Bank announced that it will hold a Yellow Look event cheering for Liiv SANDBOX to commemorate the opening of the LCK Summer.

The Yellow Look event, running until the 9th of next month, was prepared to support Liiv SANDBOX, who produced yellow uniforms and renewed the team's branding, including logo changes, in celebration of the LCK Summer Split.

For this event, fans must upload a stylish cheering photo wearing yellow clothes, shoes, or accessories at the LoL Park LCK Arena or from the front row at home, along with the mandatory hashtag (#리브샌드박스옐로룩) on their personal Instagram accounts. Among the participants, 5 fans will be selected to receive autographed uniforms from the Liiv SANDBOX players, and 25 will be drawn to receive Starbucks mobile coupons.

Earlier, KB Kookmin Bank signed a naming sponsorship with Sandbox Gaming's League of Legends (LOL) team in December last year, and in May, it added naming sponsorships for the KartRider and FIFA Online teams. As a result, all e-sports teams operated by Sandbox Gaming are currently active under the Liiv SANDBOX name.

Woori Bank also announced on the 9th that it has launched the 'Woori LCK Savings Account,' offering a maximum annual interest rate of 2.0%, linked to LCK content.

This savings account allows customers to choose their favorite team among the 10 LCK teams when signing up. The subscription period is 6 months, with a maximum monthly deposit limit of 300,000 KRW. The interest rate is a base rate of 1.0% per year plus a preferential rate of 1.0 percentage point, totaling up to 2.0% annually.

The preferential interest rate is provided up to 0.7 percentage points based on the performance of the chosen cheering team and up to 0.3 percentage points depending on the number of subscribers.

They are also running a 'Duo (two-player team) instead of Solo Queue (playing alone)' event, offering popular in-game items as prizes. When two friends form a team and sign up for the LCK savings account and register for automatic transfers, the first 5,000 teams will receive top-tier game items.

A Woori Bank official stated, "We will continue to expand LCK content by creating a dedicated communication channel for LCK on One Banking and providing various benefits such as hosting university student LoL leagues."
