[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Daehyun] The Citizens' Action for Judicial Justice (Sasehaeng) has filed a complaint with the High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Unit (Gongsoocheo) against former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol and former Deputy Chief of the Anti-Corruption and Strong Crime Division at the Supreme Prosecutors' Office Han Dong-hoon for abuse of authority in connection with the admission fraud case involving former Minister of Justice Cho Kuk and his spouse, Professor Jeong Gyeong-sim of Dongyang University.
On the 26th, Kim Han-me, the representative of Sasehaeng, held a press conference in front of the main gate of the Government Complex Gwacheon and said, "It is a fundamental disruption of the criminal justice system for investigative agencies such as the prosecution to be swayed by political purposes such as the dismissal of a minister and to excessively abuse investigative and prosecutorial powers against the minister or their family. This constitutes the crime of abuse of authority by prosecutors in the investigative command line."
On this day, Sasehaeng filed a complaint with Gongsoocheo against five individuals, including former Prosecutor General Yoon, former Deputy Chief of the Anti-Corruption and Strong Crime Division Han, former Seoul Central District Prosecutor Bae Seong-beom, former 3rd Deputy Chief of Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office Song Kyung-ho, and former Head of the Anti-Corruption Investigation Division 2 at Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office Ko Hyung-gon, for abuse of authority and other charges.
Representative Kim stated, "The exercise of state power over the people must proceed according to strict legal procedures prescribed by the Constitution and laws, and infringement on the rights of the people must be minimized. Regarding the Jeong Gyeong-sim case, the Yoon Seok-yeol prosecution abandoned the prosecutor's duty of objectivity, deliberately concealed key evidence that denies the defendant's charges, and there is suspicion that parts of the digital forensic result report were falsely prepared."
Previously, Sasehaeng had filed complaints with Gongsoocheo against former Prosecutor General Yoon five times in relation to allegations of inadequate investigation in the Lime-Optimus case and others.
